|2014 CPM Thame 10k
Sunday 29th June 2014
The annual Thame 10km road race is Thame’s largest mass participation sports event – from a humble start in the 1980s as a charity fund raiser for the Thame Boys Brigade it has grown to one of the key sporting fixtures in Thame with 1000 runners pounding a course through the town centre to Towersey and back along the Phoenix Trail.
The 2014 event is planned for Sunday 29th June with the normal start time of 9.30 am from Thame Leisure Centre. This year the organisers will accept online entries only via Runners World website where the all-in price will be £13 for affiliated runners or £15 for non-affiliated runners. Unfortunately the junior event (fun run) no longer takes place, but the 15-18 age group is catered for within the main event and costs £6.00 affiliated and £8.00 non-affiliated.
A list of all entrants will be here for download and updated every two weeks.
Our Sponsor CPM The CPM Thame 10k has become a very popular summer race for both people local to the area and those from further away. For many the Thame 10k has become a regular fixture for their yearly calendar with no less than 95% of runners polled by Runners World Magazine saying they would return to run it again.
www.cpm-int.com. It’s encouraging for us to see so many familiar faces coming back year after year and we are grateful to receive so many supportive and positive comments posted on the Runners World website. We would like to say thankyou to our other regular sponsors whom have helped make the Thame 10k the great event that it is:
Up and Running may once again be giving out free spot prizes at the race finish. Andy Rolt and his team can found at 6 Buckingham Street, Aylesbury (Monday to Friday 10am – 5:30pm and Saturday 9am – 5pm). If you’ve ever wanted to have your gait analysed, then give them a call to arrange a convenient time (01296 435945).
Thame Leisure Centre (TLC) our event would not be what it is today. TLC is at the Centre of our Community, and we greatly appreciate them openning up their facilities to the participants and families at the Thame 10k.
With your help, the Thame 10k has been able to donate thousands of pounds to local charities over the years and in recent times several organisations benefitted from your entry fee:
. Thame Scouts
. St Andrews Lunch Club
. Thame Rotary Club
. Thame Community Car
. Thame Day Centre
. Thame Cottage Hospital
For 2014 a number of enhancements will remain in place:
Continuation of the temporary road closure of the ring road on the way out and back to Towersey, and extension of this to the start of the race
New starting area close to the finish line on the playing fields
We expect entries to fill up fast. There will be NO ENTRIES ON RACE DAY and the race will be limited to 1000 entires to maintain a safe and enjoyable day for everyone. Please avoid disappointment by registering in advance by returning a completed entry form to us.
