Flying start to new cross-country campaign

The 2016/17 Chiltern League campaign got underway at a sun soaked Shotover Park on Saturday 15th October and Thame Runners rubbed shoulders with familiar foes over the challenging contours of the Horspath arena.

Mark Emmett and Sue Fallon have taken over the captains batons for this season and their gentle persuasion in recent weeks to swell the Thame numbers taking part has yielded considerable results as we were able to field a full men and women’s team for the first time in three years. Well done to the both of you, I knew those intimidation techniques would bear fruit soon enough!

Following the afternoon’s action the club sit in 6th place out of 21 teams in Division 2 and let’s hope we can build on that success when the second fixture takes place on Saturday 12th November at Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes. Before I close special mention should be made to cross country debutants┬áRoss Findlay and Faye Sharpley who came home first for the club in their respective races.
