Rod Lavers Treasurer
It feels like a quarter of a century has passed since I joined Thame Runners. Come to think of it I did become part of this wonderful club 26 years ago, in June 1988, having moved to Chinnor from my hometown of High Wycombe. The club has remained pretty much the same since those heady days of the 1980′s, apart that is from the fashions and some dubious looking hairstyles! I actually started my running career in 1983 and since then I have competed in five marathons (4 Londons and 1 New York City), over 150 half marathons and somewhere approaching 200 assorted 10k’s, 10 miles and other assorted distances – I stopped counting a number of years ago! Away from running I love reading, devouring many biographical tomes and historical non-fiction whenever the time allows. Music is also a real passion and I’m proud to have approx. 1500 items of vinyl, amassed since the 1970′s, with some real gems in my collection plus more than a few lamentable offerings which seemed a good idea to buy at the time! At Thame Runners I currently hold the club’s purse strings as Hon. Treasurer and look forward to being involved for many years to come.
