Although it was a cool morning with spots of rain, it did not deter almost 800 runners from lining up to tackle the fast flat course which takes in Thame high street before venturing onto the straight Phoenix Trail for the central section before turning back through the town and into the leisure centre field for final 300m run in.
The race was won by Julien Lhomme of HR Wallingford running club who also won the Thame 10k Corporate Challenge. Juliens time of 33:05 was impressive enough to keep the 2005 race winner Gary Harris of Headington Road Runners at bay, who came home in a time of 33:24.
The vetern mens race was won by Vasili Zverev (33:58), and the supervets race by Bryan Vaughan (35:46)
In a close ladies race just 10 seconds split the first three. Shona Crombie-Hicks of Winchester & District AC came home in first with a top time of 37:08 and just 6 seconds ahead of Headington Road Runners pairing Jude Croft (37:14) and Tracey Galbraith (37:18)
HR Wallingfords team: Julien Lhomme (1st, 33:05), Nigel Bunn (22nd, 36:19), Keiran Millard (73rd, 40:15), Wiki Daniels (78th overall and 8th female, 40:34) and Andrew Nex (199th, 45:05).
