For an event which falls outside of our normal Club Championship races, the ELAN PRINTING sponsored CHINNOR CHRISTIAN AID ICKNIELD WAY CHARITY RUNS were well attended with no less than 6 Thame Runners donning the Blue, White and Gold vests and even more doing the marshalling and results service

Well done to Reg Gale, Joe & Anne Sprinz, Jan Laver and Bruce Hawkins for braving the hilly, slippery and quite blustery conditions to post a set of good times all round. Congratulations to Rod Lavers who led us home in a superb 4th place, picking up the joint accolades of first Chinnor resident and being the first Vet50 over the line in the 10k race. But it was Elizabeth Hall from Herts Phoenix who beat all commers in the 10k race which is not too suprising when you learn of her pedigree; that she’s the British record holder for the 3000M Steeple Chase and half the age of the likes of Bruce, Rod & Reg.

Seeing Elizabeth Hall turn up for this event did leave some of us asking why she trains in Chinnor and contemplating that perhaps it’s the uniqueness of being blessed by a minster of the cloth before the race starts.

Topping a number of other good performances in the Half Marathon, Trevor Hunter of Handy Cross Runners made it a hattrick by winning the event by some considerable margin for the third year in a row.
